A romp, a bead shop, and an antique mall

I was home around noon, so Lenny, Olive and I headed for one of Edmonton's many beautiful off leash areas to run off some energy before heading out to do some errands.

The Edmonton River Valley and ravines really provide the most wonderful walking trails and off leash areas,  in this photo we are right in central Edmonton, only about a 15 minute walk from my house, you would never know it.
Edmonton has over 40 off leash areas, for more information of Edmonton off leash check out  http://www.edmonton.ca/attractions_recreation/parks_rivervalley/offleash-park-sites.aspx
After a good romp we were ready for some well behaved on leash walking.  So from the park we walked about 25 minutes to 82nd ave also known as Whyte Avenue, a very dog friendly shopping district.  We visited Bead Works, where the dogs are welcome to hang out as you sit and work on some jewelry or just pick up a few supplies like we did.
I am a love antiques so we had to stop in one of the antique malls  just of the strip.
Keep in mind most shops that are dog friendly do not advertise it, so just ask!  The worst they say is no, and you turn around.  Asking is the only way I discovered I could bring my dog into almost all the places we now regularly visit.    A well behaved dog is always welcomed back, so set your expectations high the first time you bring you pooch into a store, no licking merchandise, no clawing under tables, no jumping !  My dogs are almost always walking at my side or in a sit or down position, when not accepting pats or treats from store workers and visitors.
